Whether you need a valuation for insurance purposes, estate administration, or are considering selling a piece, Handley's provides independent, professionally prepared valuations you can rely on.
As an independent jeweller with decades of experience, we have no commercial interest in the value we ascribe — only a professional obligation to accuracy. Our valuations are thorough, clearly documented and recognised by leading insurers.
Valuation appointments are conducted in our Holywood showroom. We ask that you bring any certificates, receipts or provenance documentation you hold, though these are not required. All valuations are handled with the utmost discretion and care.
Fees for valuation services are discussed and agreed at the time of booking.

How long do jewellery repairs typically take?
Turnaround times vary depending on the nature of the repair. Minor work — such as a ring resize or clasp replacement — is often completed within five to seven working days. More complex restorations or remodelling commissions are discussed and scheduled individually. We always provide a realistic timeframe before work begins and keep you informed throughout.
Do I need an appointment to bring in a repair?
Walk-ins are always welcome for repairs and assessments. That said, if you would like unhurried time with a member of our team — particularly for remodelling discussions or anything complex — we recommend booking ahead so we can give you our full attention.
What happens during a jewellery consultation?
A consultation at Handley's is a relaxed, private conversation. We will ask about what you are looking for, show you relevant pieces or materials from our collection, and offer our honest professional view. There is no obligation to purchase or commission anything — we simply want to make sure you leave with exactly the right information.
How are valuations carried out?
Valuations are conducted in our showroom by appointment. We examine the piece carefully, assess the quality and condition of stones and metalwork, and prepare a written valuation document. Where certificates or original receipts exist, these support the process, but are not essential.
Can you work with my own gold or stones?
Yes — remodelling commissions using a client's own material are something we particularly enjoy. Bringing your own gold, diamonds or stones into a new design is both meaningful and practical, and we will guide you through the process from initial sketch through to finished piece.
Is everything handled in-house?
The majority of our repair and remodelling work is carried out by trusted craftsmen we have worked with for many years. When a specialist technique is required, we work only with highly skilled partners whose standards match our own. Your piece is always handled with care and fully insured while in our charge.
